A WOMAN whose shoeprints were found on the body of a homeless man who had been battered to death told a court yesterday she kicked him to save him from being beaten up.
Caroline Victoria Barnett, 26, of no fixed address, denies murdering 25-year-old Simon Sneddon during a frenzied gang attack in November last year.
Forensic examinations found bruises in the shape of the Nike logo from Ms Barnett's shoes imprinted on the victim's back.

A fourth man, 20year-old Philip John Nichol, of no fixed address, has pleaded guilty to murder.
The four defendants and Barnard Castle-bornMr Sneddon had become drinking friends and had been sleeping rough in Darlington in the weeks before the incident on November 20.
The trial earlier heard testimony fromMr Bennett's sister and mother, who said he told them he had killed someone because they had stolen his mobile phone.
In cross examination at Teesside Crown Court yesterday, Ms Barnett said Chanel Replica Watches she had been asleep on the couch at a friend's house in Forster Street, Darlington, when she woke to find Mr Bennett kicking someone on the ground.
She said she tried to stop the attack when she realised Mr Sneddon was not moving.
"I didn't know what was going on, but I knew the lad wasn't fighting back, so I jumped up and grabbed hold of Mark, " she said.
"I was screaming at the lad to get up. I just wanted him to move out of the way. I kicked with my right foot. I was trying to get him up while he had the chance."
Ms Barnett's barrister, Timothy Roberts QC, asked her: "How much force did you put into those kicks?"
Ms Barnett replied: "I don't think it was that much. I was just prodding him."
Mr Sneddon died after suffering massive injuries to his chest, lungs, face and brain.
Paul Sloan, prosecuting, said thatMs Barnett could not have been asleep on the couch, because the chair was covered in blood from when the attack began.

He told her: "You were not sitting in themiddle of the settee when the violence flared, you were awake. You were on your feet. You did become involved. You lashed out."
