JADE TRIES TO HEAL FAMILY RIFT

JADE Goody was forced to act as peacemaker only hours after lifesaving surgery when her mum and her boyfriend got into a bust- up.

The reality TV star, 27, played gobetween from her hospital bed despite suffering from soaring temperatures and the after-effects of a five-hour operation to remove a golf ball-sized tumour from her bowel.

The bitter argument started when Jackiey Budden, 50, discovered no one was at her daughter's bedside on Friday when she came round.

She blamed Jade's partner Jack Tweed, 21 - screaming at him in earshot of shocked hospital staff.

A source close to Jade said: "The last thing she wants is to have two of the people she cares most about in the world at each other's throats.

"Even though she has been through a really tough operation and is very weak she has been trying to persuade them both to make the peace for her sake.

"She was up late into Saturday night trying to get the pair of them to bury the hatchet."

Jack, who was jailed for battering a teenager with a golf club, was only released last month and has to keep a night-time curfew as part of his bail conditions. He had been at the Royal Marsden Hospital for much of Friday, but had to leave to honour the bail terms.

However, Jackiey was furious at his departure and felt he had not done a good job of keeping her informed of Jade's condition. Jade is thought to have spent much of Saturday evening on the phone to them. Last night, the extent of Jade's suffering as she fought to heal the rift was revealed as it emerged she suffered sky-high temperatures following the op. A source said: "She had a very bad night and had no sleep. She was in quite a bit of pain and it didn't help that her mum replica Glashutte Watches and Jack were screaming in front of her and at each other's throats."

Jade's spokesman Max Clifford confirmed: "She didn't have a good night but is feeling a lot brighter today. Her mum and Jack have been there."

Yesterday, rumours spread that Jack had dumped Jade after his Facebook entry was changed to read "Single". But one of his pals insisted: "The status got changed by mistake. Once he realised he changed it back."

The Daily Mirror exclusively revealed on Saturday how doctors found the bowel tumour after Jade had to have emergency surgery.

The mum-of-two recently lost her hair due to chemotherapy for her cervical cancer, discovered last August.

She was devastated to learn last week that the disease had spread to her bowel, liver and groin. But she has vowed to keep working to provide for sons Bobby, five, and Freddie, four.

Jade told a friend yesterday: "I'm going to keep on fighting. I will never stop - I can't because of my boys."

Doctors are hoping to begin a new treatment this week using drug Topotecan, which can shrink tumours.

Jade said: Fendi Handbags "I know time is running out so I have to reach out for anything that can help. Jade Goody doesn't give up easily."

Florida home sales jump as nat

June was still sunny in the Sunshine State for existing home sales, with an increase in Cleveland Browns jerseys purchases bucking a national dip in buying blamed on the end of the tax credit.

Statewide, single-family home sales last month were up 8 percent compared with May and 15 percent over the same time last year, according to monthly data released Thursday by the group Florida Realtors.

Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast saw a similar trend with purchases jumping 23 percent and 16 percent, respectively, in June over May.

"Everybody saw a slowdown for a second after the tax credit," said Realtor Shannon Brink, of Re/Max Prestige Realty in West Palm Beach. "But a great home priced correctly is selling."

The National Association of Realtors had expected sales to drop following the April 30 expiration of a home buyer tax credit, and while June buys reflected a 5.6 percent dip from May, they were still 8.5 percent above where they were in June 2009.

To cash in on the tax credit worth up to $8,000 for first-time buyers and up to $6,500 for some repeat buyers, a contract had to be signed on a home by April 30, with closing taking place before the recently extended deadline of Sept. 30.

Both the Florida Realtors and national association measure closed sales.

"Broadly speaking, sales closed after the home buyer tax credit will be significantly lower compared to the credit-induced spring surge," said Lawrence Yun, chief economist for the National Association of Realtors. "Only when jobs are air force created at a sufficient pace will home sales return to sustainable healthy levels."

One theory on why Florida's sales were still climbing in June is that the state's abundance of short sales, which take longer to complete, were still working through the spring tax credit buying timeline. Even if buyers signed a contract on a short sale by April 30, they could still be trying to close the deal.

Cut-rate pricing and historically low interest rates may also have nudged fence-sitting borrowers forward, said Bill Hardin, director of real estate programs at Florida International University in Miami.

"I think we're getting to some price points that are very attractive," Hardin said.

The median sales price in June for a single-family home in Florida dropped 3 percent from 2009 to $143,400 in June, while Palm Beach County's saw a 7 percent decrease to $232,700.

The median Treasure Coast price increased 3 percent to $112,900.

Prices generally remained stable compared with May.

The national average commitment rate for a 30-year, conventional, fixed-rate mortgage fell to 4.74 percent in June.

But Brad Hunter, the chief economist with MetroStudy in Palm Beach Gardens, said interpreting home sale statistics this year is difficult because the tax credit interfered with the normal market.

"I wouldn't draw Christian Louboutin Store a conclusion from one month," he said. "The longer term trend is still more distressed properties being introduced, and that would naturally tend to boost sales."

In June, banks seized 12,936 Florida homes, a 76 percent increase from June 2009, according to the Irvine, Calif.-base

Vikings bring lessons to life

A HORDE of Vikings descended on a school to teach the youngsters about life and death in the Dark Ages.

CHILDREN have built a Viking longship.

replica Fendi Handbags

The day-long project allowed Year 4 pupils at Flax Bourton Church of England Primary School to put authentic methods into practice by building a replica ship.

On Wednesday morning, pupils learned traditional skills such as weaving and sewing sails, and made dragon heads, lodestone compasses and Viking shields.

Construction of the ship started just before lunch, and it was completed before the end of the day.

The finished product was a quarter scale model, which measured five metres in length, and could fit eight children.

At the end of the day, the ship was taken apart and stored, ready to be constructed again.

Beech class teacher, Keith Bennett said: "It was an excellent day, and what staggered us most was the realism of the boat. It was really impressive."

Tories are trying to claim lab

The opening and upgrading of many play areas across Bath and North East Somerset in the last few months is an exciting development and will provide much-needed fun and entertainment for thousands of children and young people.

Congratulations must go to Alice McColl and Chicago-Cubs our council's excellent play team for the play strategy, which has established the need for the new parks. However, I am extremely disappointed by the way that the council's leadership has sought to take credit for this scheme, barely acknowledging the fact that the funding for the whole scheme came from a Pounds 2.5 million grant from Labour Government through the Play Pathfinder project.

The opening of the Midsomer Norton skate and play park on Sunday was just the latest time that Councillor Chris Watt, the lead for children's services and the newly elected North East Somerset MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, tried to show what a good job the local Conservatives were doing in supporting young people.

Mr Watt has overemphasised the council's role in this publication and elsewhere, and Mr Rees-Mogg claimed falsely in election literature that the investment in play parks were "Local Conservatives in action". The fact that the project would not have happened without Government backing is never mentioned as anything but an afterthought.

crystal rock

The same can be said for projects such as the opening of the rebuilt Writhlington School, funded completely by Labour's Building Schools for the Future, which the Tories have now axed.

The investment in B&NES in the last 13 years from the last Government has been at record levels across a range of services including health, infrastructure and education, but listening to the council PR you might believe that the council has done this alone.

What makes this inaccurate picture all the more galling is the massive cuts to services, particularly for children, that the council is now planning. The council's youth service is in line to be decimated with many popular and well-run youth centres set to be closed, leaving many of our most underprivileged young people with fewer opportunities for enjoyment and development.

This is short-termism at its worst and must be urgently reconsidered.

A generation of young people will be left out in the cold while our senior councillors try and convince us that they are committed to our area's children.

Topshop boss gives Pounds 100,

FASHION chain billionaire Sir Philip Green has made one of the biggest donations to the Standard's Dispossessed Fund to help London's poorest and has urged others to follow his example.

The Topshop, Topman and Bhs owner personally gave Pounds 100,000 to the Fund and acknowledged it was sometimes hard to appreciate just "how bad" life can be on the bottom rung.

Sir Philip, 58, has deep London Replica Rado Watches roots -- his father was from the East End and he was brought up in Croydon and Hampstead Garden Suburb.

He said: "I must have 4,000 to 5,000 people employed in London. It's one of the most important centres in the world. If we can all put our elbows to the pump we can help everybody -- we can give them the same chances that others have received -- and that can only be to London's gain.

"We've got to start somewhere. The Evening Standard has done a great job in highlighting some of the situations that exist for some people -- probably we don't know how bad it really is for them. By putting up this money we're making a start."

The Fund is replica Hermes Handbags now well on the way to hitting its target of Pounds 1 million -- which will be matched by the Government.

Other business leaders have backed our campaign, with British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh saying: "Poverty shames us all and as a global airline we have a responsibility and a duty to tackle deprivation in countries we fly to around the world.

"But we must never forget charity begins at home, so I am determined we should make our contribution and support the Evening Standard campaign."
